Do you have Passion? How much money are you making from it?

Do you know why most people experience burn out in their work places or in their businesses? 99% of these people have completely lost their passion for what they do.
Let me give you 5 reasons why:

  1. The sense of obligation over what they do has overtaken the reason and pleasure linked to the activity.
  2. Chronic mental fatigue, which is caused by working under conditions that are contrary to your belief system and your basic passions
  3. You develop self-hatred and a distaste for yourself because you are not taking action to get yourself out of that rut
  4. They are incapable of managing their anger and resentment against those that represent this oppression (their boss).
  5. Their emotions seem to be out of control, and you feel more and more powerless

This, among many other points is the result of living a life empty of any passion and full of obligations – some of which are either cultural or self-imposed.

It doesn’t matter if you are on the job, or if you are running a home business. There really is no difference; you can, and will experience the exact same emotions if you continue to work under the umbrella of obligation.

When your driving force is passion, work becomes an end it itself. You can’t imagine yourself NOT working. You take as much pleasure in working as you do in seeing the results of your work. This is where we all need to arrive. Let me give you a few examples of what happens when you enter into this “passion” modus operandi:

  • You are pleasantly surprised by the intensity of your creativity
  • It is a place where you bolt out of bed as opposed to falling out of bed
  • Your mental, emotional and physical posture changes drastically
  • Your level of confidence grows exponentially because you know that what you are, and what you are offering is UNIQUE.
  • Born an ordinary man/woman, you become a genius
  • You are constantly full of energy and focus

Have you ever noticed how certain “geeks” talk about their areas of expertise? These guys can be so engulfed in their world, that they become oblivious to the issues that preoccupy the majority of us. If it wasn’t for Steve Jobs and Bill gates’ “geekness”, we wouldn’t even have home computers, let alone Internet access.

Living out passionately requires boldness and courage. Most people prefer to live in prefabricated moulds that define their “who”, “what”, “when” and “why”. You may already know what you are passionate about. If so, then that’s good. Don’t be fooled by the millions of other people that apparently have the same passion. Your unique take on this is what gives you a unique tone, and makes you stand out of the crowd.
If you still feel stuck and in a terrible rut, then start by taking the time to figure out what it is that you really like doing. What makes you really happy or terribly mad? Is it movies, reading, sports, music, travel, or fixing things? Once you have completed this exercise, try to spend more time doing these things. As you continue to do this, you will begin to notice a change in your perception of life as a whole.
All this will not happen overnight, but you have to start somewhere. Like the famous Chinese proverb states, “A journey of a thousand miles, begins with the first step”.
