Determination – The Missing Ingredient in Many Entrepreneurs

The 30th president of the United States of America, Calvin Coolidge once stated, and I quote:

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race”

Being determined simply means you do not back down WHEN adversity strikes. I cannot begin to tell you how many people have been close to actually making money online, only to give up at the very last minute. Nobody said making money online was going to be easy. Yes, you read the stories and testimonies of people who have been able to start their home businesses right from the “comfort of their home.”

See…now that’s the kind of phrase that lures people into thinking that running a business from home is “easy” and “comfortable”. How are they supposed to know that you actually have to get OUT of your comfort zone to get any kind of result?

If you are not conditioned to expect hardship, when it comes, you are so overwhelmed by it that you break down. Adversities and difficulties are like the waves of the sea. They will keep coming and coming. Some will be mild, and depending on the season, some may be severe and harsh. All the buildings that exist by the sea have been structurally designed to weather the storms. If you can understand this principle, and apply this to your home business, you will be solid as a rock, and every business you decide to embark on will succeed. In the majority of cases, your success will not be based on the ingenuity of the program, but on the focus and determination that you demonstrate.

Determination is not acquired by default or by wishful thinking. You have to train your mind, and your body to flow in this. I remember that as a child, my natural reflex was to cry when something was too difficult. I would cry when I was tired and hungry. I would also cry when I felt like things were not going MY way. It was always somebody else’s fault.
So, let me ask you this…when it comes to your business, are you a child or an adult?

If you closely examine the lives of successful people, you will notice that these guys tend to do what most people only talk about, and would never dare to try. In other words they avoid confronting their problems, and run at the first sight of adversity.

All is not lost if you think you are lacking in determination. Remember that no one is born with this. The experiences of life are what create a disparity in the level of determination you find in people. Whatever the case, you should realize that determination is a habit that can be learnt. Learn to be determined in all that you do, and you will attract success in ways you could have never imagined.
